what is Chemical peels?

Chemical peels are a type of exfoliation treatment that uses a chemical solution to remove the damaged outer layers of your skin. The treatment works by causing the top layer of skin to peel off, revealing a new layer underneath that is typically smoother and less wrinkled. These peels can be customized in strength - from light to deep - depending on your specific skin concerns and desired results.

Chemical peels can significantly improve the appearance of skin imperfections such as fine lines, wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, or acne scars. This treatment is suitable for anyone looking to enhance their skin's texture and tone, reduce signs of aging, or clear up breakouts. Regular treatments can even stimulate the skin's natural collagen production, promoting firmer, more youthful skin over time.

Our process

The Chemical Peel process at Contour Laser Medi Spa begins with a thorough cleansing of your skin to remove any oils and makeup. Once the skin is clean, our trained aesthetician will apply the chemical solution, which may cause a slight tingling or warm sensation as it works to exfoliate your skin.

The peel remains on your skin for a predetermined amount of time, depending on the type and strength of the peel. Afterward, the solution is removed, and a soothing cream is applied to calm the skin. The entire process takes about 30 minutes to an hour, and while you may experience some redness and peeling in the days following, the result is refreshed, rejuvenated skin.

Pre and Post Care Instructions

Before your Chemical Peel at Contour Laser Medi Spa, avoid any form of skin exfoliation for a few days. If you're using any products containing retinol or Vitamin A, stop using these at least five days before your treatment. It's also important to protect your skin from the sun and to come to your appointment with clean, makeup-free skin.

After your Chemical Peel, your skin may be more sensitive to the sun, so we recommend applying a broad-spectrum sunblock of at least SPF 30 daily. Avoid strenuous exercise, hot showers, and saunas for 24-48 hours after your treatment, as heat can cause inflammation. Keep your skin hydrated with a gentle moisturizer and avoid any harsh skincare products until your skin has fully healed. Also, avoid picking or peeling any flaking skin to prevent scarring.

  • Can I apply makeup after my Chemical Peel treatment?

While it is generally safe to apply makeup after a chemical peel, we recommend waiting at least a few hours to allow your skin to breathe and start the healing process. If possible, it's best to wait until the next day to resume your makeup routine. As part of our comprehensive chemical peel services at Contour Laser Medi Spa, we provide detailed post-treatment care guidelines to ensure optimal results.

  • How often should I get Chemical Peel treatments?

The frequency of chemical peeling sessions depends on the type of peel, your skin type, and your specific skincare goals. Generally, lighter chemical face peels can be done every four to six weeks, while medium to deep peels may only be needed every six to twelve months. Our experts at Contour Laser Medi Spa will provide personalized advice to ensure you get the most from your facial chemical peels.

  • Are there any side effects or risks associated with Chemical Peels?
